One memorable morning, we took a short drive to Rockport and rented kayaks. We paddled through quiet channels, spotting crabs scuttling and birds skimming the water. The kids squealed when a small fiddler crab ran across a log.

In the afternoon, we set out hand lines from docks and snagged small crabs (check local regulations). That evening, we steamed them back at our rig with garlic butter and local lemons. We spread a newspaper and shared the bounty, licking fingers and laughing.

Back at the resort, we joined the evening “jam session” in the clubhouse — folks played guitars, sang old tunes, and some taught kids a few chords.
