My parents, both in their 70s, joined us for half the trip. I feared the pace would be too much, but the resort’s balance made it ideal. They started with gentle water aerobics in the morning, then relaxed by the pool. Some days they walked the pond paths with a neighbor in the same age group.
Afternoons, they took the resort shuttle or local trolley (or we drove) to museums in Rockport, the Maritime Museum, or the birding center. In the evenings, they enjoyed slow dancing in the clubhouse or attending trivia nights.
One night, they joined the potluck dinner and volunteered to make a dessert (Mom’s lemon bars). They made friends with a retired couple from Oklahoma — by week’s end, they were planning a joint reunion stay.
